Sometimes I come across something and decide that it's something I want to try. For this reason, I love google! I recently decided that I wanted to make some fabric flowers. I used google for tutorials and decided to use
this one and
this one, and got to cutting and sewing. I followed the basic instructions for both making minor changes to suit the materials I had on hand.
For the first tutorial I used a bunch of scrap fabric (some vintage) I had laying around and vintage buttons from my large stash. These were very simple to put together and I think they turned out pretty cute. I think I may go on a hunt for more sturdy fabric to make more. The fabrics I have are pretty flimsy, so the flowers aren't very "fluffy".

For the second tutorial, I got a little more creative with my materials. I hacked up a party dress (that was already pretty much ruined) that I got from Ross for $3 and some seed beads!!! I made circle "patterns" from random round things I had laying around on or near my work table, just cause I don't do things "free-hand" very well. These are usually made with organza or silk, so I was little nervous about how this would turn out being that this was polyester. I layered the "satin" and "tulle" in 4 different sizes. You can't really see the tulle, so I'm not sure I'll use it when I make more. I was really pleased with how this turned out. I can't wait to get my hands on some organza!

I have no idea what I'm going to do with these (yet), but they sure were fun to make!
